Mind-Body Medicine

Mind-body medicine emphasizes the deep connection between your mind and body, rather than their separation. It focuses on how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can influence your physical health, and how your physical health can influence your thoughts, emotions and behaviors. By incorporating various practices, mind-body medicine can be used to manage many conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, depression, dermatological conditions, digestive health, and even cardiovascular health. Dr. Spertus also brings in heart-centered care and facilitates meaning making whenever possible, promoting self-compassion, gratitude, spirit, and resilience.

Integrative Medicine

Integrative medicine is a holistic approach that focuses on treating the whole person, combining conventional medicine with complementary therapies to promote overall wellness. This collaborative method aims to address the physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual aspects of health to achieve optimal healing and wellness. By considering all factors that influence a person's health, integrative medicine seeks to provide personalized care that goes beyond just managing symptoms, emphasizing prevention and empowerment in the healing process. Lifestyle Medicine

Lifestyle medicine focuses on the importance of lifestyle factors, including the nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep, relationships, and healthy behaviors in preventing and treating chronic diseases. This field aims to empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being, in collaboration with their healthcare team. Group Classes

Dr. Spertus will be offering group classes in Self-Hypnosis for Coping with Medical Conditions, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindful Behavior Change, and Sleep Skills. These classes last from 4-9 weeks. These groups are a place where participants come together to share ideas, collaborate, and create the alchemy for change.

Medical Hypnosis

Have you ever considered the power of your mind to influence your body's well-being? Medical hypnosis capitalizes on this mind-body connection. By facilitating a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration, hypnosis is a tool that allows you to access your own thoughts, suggestions, and inner healer to tackle health concerns. This approach can be effective for managing chronic pain, anxiety, skin conditions, sleep problems, gastrointestinal problems, and more. Mindfulness

Mindfulness, as defined by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is the “awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally." Rooted in traditional practices, it's about acknowledging your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without getting caught up in them. Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for managing stress, improving focus, enhancing emotional well-being, and managing certain health conditions. By learning to be more present, you can respond more skillfully to challenges and cultivate greater peace in your daily life.
